Hello Friends,

I was just looking at the calendar and can’t believe half the year has already passed us by. Soon we will be seeing the decorations in the stores and the music blasting over the speakers of carols that should wait a few more weeks. I know time flies, but it always seems that the holidays keep getting closer and closer every year. There is really only one cool thing about the holidays that I like and that is the many, many food dishes that kick start the holiday seasons.

I do have to say, I enjoy the fall and winter and the weather changing, not that it gets too cold here. After living in Chicago for 20 years, this is again a big change for me. I feel different here, I feel like I should be wearing bulky coats always and yet I find myself in just a sweater and ok with that. But back to the one thing I love about the holidays sneaking up on us is the food. So many comfort foods are waiting to be made and I can’t wait! The chili, the turkey, the ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing and anything pumpkin. I am a true fan of fall and winter meals. Prime rib or a nice lamb rack. True, you can eat these all the time, but it always taste better when there is a slight chill in the air.

I am not taking away from the summer fun of burgers and hot dogs. The cold watermelon and juicy fruits and desserts on a hot day bring many memories to the family outings. Sun and fun are great, but give me a nice chill to get me going. So bring on the orange of a pumpkin and red of a cranberry and the green of the rosemary and the smell of cinnamon, I’m ready to dive in and create a tasty dish for all to enjoy. You will always find me in the kitchen trying to top myself with the latest dish. Make that holiday table look better than a magazine cover.

So as we prepare to welcome the ever growing holiday season, be sure you store all of your summer memories as a reminder that half the year has already flown by. I know I am storing and saving my summer memories, but those cold winters are always on my mind and I can’t wait. Be sure to get your recipes ready or contact me for ideas on how to make new dishes for the end of the year. It’s going to be here sooner than you think.
